Lockdown walks

It’s week 4 of lockdown here in NZ and although I’ve been busy working on a secret project I’ve managed to get out for a couple of local walks. After seeing the unusual Grey Warbler at Otari-Wilton’s Bush (in my last post) I went back to find it again, without any luck. I did manage to see some other Grey Warblers though and snapped some photos of them that I’m pretty happy with. On the previous day I spotted a family of kākāriki which was super exciting, as they’re not very common at all in the area. Usually I can only see them at Zealandia, so Otari is the next best thing at the moment. There was also a kōtare/Kingfisher just outside Otari which I managed to get a photo of, they are very skittish birds, so it’s never easy getting photos of them! I’m very grateful to have such a beautiful patch of forest close to home, I’ll be making the most of it while we’re not allowed to travel far!
