new bird patches!

I’m so pleased to have some new additions to my patch family… introducing my kākāpō and pīwakawaka/fantail iron on patches!

Last year I discovered that there simply aren’t enough native bird accessories available, so I wanted to offer a range of locally made fun accessories that can be ironed onto hats, jackets, jumpers… pretty much anything! Patches are one of the newest products I offer and since late last year I have been slowly adding more and more birds to my collection. Last Christmas I only had 2 designs on offer but I got such a great response from them that I decided to continue designing and making more. It actually took me a good while (and a few trials) to find a local manufacturer that meets my high standards but I’m really happy with every patch I order, it’s always a bit of a surprise how my designs translate onto embroidery. My patches do cost a bit more than the usual ones in stores, the reason is that because they’re locally made they cost more to produce and they are much higher quality than the other cheaper ones around. I am committed to making my products with as little impact on the environment as possible, and getting them locally made is the least I can do, a bonus is that I’m also supporting another small business in the process. I’m so grateful for how popular the patches are and (funds permitting) I plan on adding a few more birds to the collection before the end of the year.
