Night owl features one of NZ’s most loved birds, the ruru or morepork.

Ruru are nocturnal birds of prey and are our only surviving native owl species. They are experts at camouflaging themselves, but can sometimes be spotted in forests being mobbed by other bird species. This illustration is inspired by seeing ruru in the wild and watching their menacing stare as they keep a close eye on the other birds circling around them.

This art print is based on an original hand-painted gouache artwork. Each print is created with long-lasting matte pigment inks on textured, high quality archival 100% cotton rag paper.
