A rare pair features a pair of NZ’s rarest forest birds - hihi or stitchbirds.

Hihi are incredibly rare birds, they are only found in a handful of sanctuaries throughout the North Island of New Zealand and are unlike any other bird in our forests. Hihi have beautiful distinctive flashes of yellow feathers and have a unique perky stance, male hihi have bold dark colouring whereas females look more subdued.

This illustration is inspired by the hihi I’ve spent time with in various sanctuaries, I find them so fascinating to watch with their distinctive body language and electric calls.

This art print is based on an original hand-painted gouache artwork. Each print is created with long-lasting matte pigment inks on textured, high quality archival 100% cotton rag paper.
