Double dotterel features a popular native shorebird, the NZ dotterel / tūturiwhatu.

NZ dotterels are relatively rare shorebirds, they are mostly seen in northern NZ, the Southern subspecies is extremely rare and only breeds on Stewart Island. They face many threats including human disturbance on the beaches where they live and attempt to nest. Despite not being overly common they are a much loved bird and dedicated volunteers work hard to protect their nesting areas over the breeding season.

This art print is based on an original hand-painted gouache artwork. Each print is created with long-lasting matte pigment inks on textured, high quality archival 100% cotton rag paper.
